Why let pain bring you down and spoil your day? Many people dealing with chronic or long-lasting pain find that the pain doesn’t have to ruin their lives. If you spend the day lounging in bed after a flare up, or you avoid doing the things that you love because of your pain, today is the day that you conquer your pain.

Know Your Limits

Suffering from pain doesn’t mean that you need to spend the rest of your life in bed or on your couch, but it does mean that you need to make a few lifestyle changes. As long as you know your limits, you can easily conquer your pain. Keep a notebook in your bag or in your pocket. Use that notebook to record when flare ups occur and what type of activities lead to increased pain. In just a few short days, you’ll have a better understanding about your pain and know more about your limits. You might find that you can still exercise but that you need to limit yourself to 30 minutes at a time, or you might find that you can still splash in the pool with your kids or grandchildren but that you need to take frequent breaks throughout the day.

Find Relief

Do you want to battle back against your throbbing knees, lower back aches or the pain that you feel throughout your body? Conquering your pain begins when you find relief for your symptoms. Many sufferers find that they feel better when they exercise more frequently, including taking walks around their neighborhoods and chasing their kids around the house. Others get relief from writing down their thoughts, painting and indulging in other creative outlets. Work with your doctor to determine what other remedies can help you find pain relief. Though it might take some trial and error, you’ll quickly discover what type of activities and remedies will let you conquer your pain.
